The Lunuganga Trust has opened to the public two sites closely associated with Geoffrey Bawa: the Colombo Residence of Geoffrey Bawa and the Lunuganga Garden.

The Bawa Residence, located at Bagatalle Road, Colombo 3 is open from 10 am to 4pm from Monday to Friday, except on public holidays. An entrance fee of Rs 750 per person (students at Rs 100) will be charged.

The Lunuganga Garden, in Dedduwa, Bentota was the private ‘country’ residence of Bawa and was developed over nearly five decades to become the enchanting place it is today. Lunuganga possesses a series of villas and pavilions occupying a part of the property which overlooks the Dedduwa Lake, a backwater of the Bentota River. In the centre of this river is an island which is a bird sanctuary. Terraced walks, a water garden, and the bordering lake add to the enchantment of Lunuganga. Lunuganga is now open daily, except on public holidays, from 9am to 5pm. Entrance fee is Rs 1,250 per person, and Rs 300 per student.

There are guided tours offered at both locations (at 10am and 4 pm at the Colombo Residence and 10am and 3pm at Lunuganga). For further enquiries, please contact the Lunuganga Trust on 2589212 or on e-mail : leopold@eureka.lk
