To commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Geoffrey Beling, his family organised an exhibition at the Sapumal Foundation in March 2008. Geoffrey Beling was a founding member of the eminent 43rd group. In addition to being a painter, he was also the architect and designer of the Lionel Wendt Art gallery.

He also played a formidable role in uplifting the arts in Sri Lanka as the Chief Inspector of Art in the Education Department, a post he held from 1932 until his retirement in 1967. The exhibition, aptly titled ‘sketchbook,’ illustrated paintings from private collections and some paintings from the family archive which have never been exhibited to the public before.
